Police arrested fake medical doctor in Bayelsa

Bayelsa Police Command has apprehended Akpoviri Vincent Jimmy, who purportedly poses as a licensed medical doctor seeking employment in Bayelsa and Delta states.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, announced his arrest on Tuesday at the police headquarters in Yenagoa.

Butswat disclosed that the suspect had been going around claiming to be Dr. Charles Umeh, a serving medical doctor in Taraba state.

He reiterated that people got to discover that his real name was Akpoviri Vincent Jimmy after his arrest.

According to the police spokesman, the suspect who hails from Ethiope West local government area of Delta State was exposed in Ughelli when he couldn’t explain some terminologies that an average qualified medical doctor should know.

The police officer said that when the suspect was probed, he claimed that he was working in a hospital in Bayelsa which prompted the hospital in Ughelli to further quiz him.

He also reassured that the suspect will soon be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

A sober Jimmy confessed to journalists that he is a graduate of Psychology from Delta State University, whose knowledge of medicine made him devised a means to secure employment by all means in the health sector.

He also claimed that the credentials he used belonged to his friend, Dr Charles Umeh who was unaware that they were in his possession.

The suspect said that he got the knowledge of medicine while working as a Personal Assistant to late Dr Ajoke in Sapele and had no experiential knowledge of the profession.
