Stress Echocardiography-Derived E/e’ Predicts Abnormal Exercise Hemodynamics in Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction

Introduction

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction(HFpEF) is diagnosed using three criteria: signs and symptoms of heart failure, left ventricular(LV)ejection fraction (LVEF) > 50%, and objective evidence of diastolic dysfunction including elevated levels of natriuretic peptide and echocardiographically relevant structural heart disease or abnormal diastolic parameters (Ponikowski et al., 2016). The prevalence of HFpEF is higher than that of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and increases significantly with age.
